Does anyone have a good family cookie recipe

Does anyone have a good family cookie recipe?
I have a good Christmas cookie recipe that goes back to my great grandparents(at least) who lived in Poland. Does anybody have a good cookie recipe that has been in the family for awhile and would like to share it? I would like to try things from different parts countries and recipes that have been in the family for a while are great. I would really appreciate it. If possible, could you tell me where it originates? Thanks

These have been made for every christmas for as long as I can remember. They have even won contests. Unfortunately I dont know where they come from. Almond Sugar Cookies: 1 cup butter, (no substitutes), softened 3/4 cup sugar 1 teaspoon almond extract 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt Additional sugar GLAZE: 1 cup confectioners' sugar 1-1/2 teaspoons almond extract 2 to 3 teaspoons water Green food coloring, optional Sliced almonds, toasted In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in almond extract. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Roll into 1-in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Coat bottom of a glass with cooking spray; dip in sugar. Flatten cookies with prepared glass, dipping glass in sugar again as needed. Bake at 400° for 7-9 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool for 1 minute before removing to wire racks. In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioners' sugar, almond extract and enough water to achieve glaze consistency. Tint with food coloring if desired; drizzle over cookies. Sprinkle with almonds.

This recipe belonged to my GREAT GRANDMOTHER!! FYI - My Grandmother would be 123 if she were alive today, so how old that would make my Great Grandmother, I do not know!! And I'm not sure where she got it, as she came over from Germany. The actual recipe was written in German, and my Mother translated it many years ago so she could bake them. I can not remember one Christmas in my lifetime that we have not had these cookies!! Pfeffernuesse (Pepper Nuts) 2 C. Sugar 2 C. Shortening 3 Eggs, beaten 1 tsp Anise Flavoring 1 tsp Ground Cloves\ 1 tsp Ground Cardamon 3 tsp soda, disolved in 3/4 cup warm water 2 Cups Dark Molasses 1 Cup Butter, room temperature 1 tsp salt 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp nutmeg 1) Mix together sugar, molasses, shortening and butter. Cook over medium heat 5 minutes. Transfer to glass bowl and let stand, covered with towel, overnight. DO NOT REFRIGERATE!! 2) Add remaining ingredients the next morning and cream together. 3) Lightly knead dough to form one large ball. Add additional flour if required to get dough to right consistancy. Should be soft and pliable, but easy to form into 1 inch balls. 4) Form dough into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. 5) Bake at 375 for 10 to 12 minutes.
