People have migrated from different nations all over the world. No doubt there are people of Italian descent and freshly transplanted Italians in Poland for a variety of reasons - work, family, anything really.

Italians and Poles go back hundred of years. In 16th century a Italian aristocrat named Bona Sforza became the wife of Polish King Sigmund I.She was a patron of Renaissance culture ,which began to flourish in Poland under her rule. She is also considered a mother of modern Polish cuisine, having introduced Italian vegetables to Polish tables. She has brought a entire entourage of Italians with her of which many have remained in Poland for good even after her death in 1557.

Short answer, not too many.... In seven years of living here I have personally met about say 10-20 Italians living here. There is a small community about 12 to 15 Italians living very close to Kazimierz Dolny http://www.kazimierz-news.com.pl/wersjaa.html, which is very close to where I live in Pulawy http://www.um.pulawy.pl/eng/news.php Last summer my wife and I spent many summer evenings there drinking a glass or "two" !! of wine, with an Italian couple that moved into the area after they spent their Holiday there...and they liked it so much they have decided to live here
